From Free School Meals to Disabled Support - Labour's Blocking and Cutting Continues

Labour block free school meal plan
Lib Dems demand urgent action on Free School Meals.
Thousands of children across England are missing out on free school meals they are entitled to – and the Liberal Democrats have a plan to fix it. Many Labour MPs voted AGAINST the plan, which would see eligible children automatically enrolled to receive free school meals. Lib Dem City Council Group Leader, Cllr James Wright said:

Cllr James Wright
“It’s heartbreaking that so many children are going without food they are entitled to. Labour had a choice to back struggling families – and they failed them. The Liberal Democrats will keep fighting for a fair deal for children across the country.”
Three years ago the Lib Dem group on Norfolk County Council took a principled stand, walking out of meetings to protest the Tories’ cuts to school meals over the holidays. Back then, Labour joined us, but now they have joined in with the Tories’ targeting of the poorest and most vulnerable in society.
Labour cut support to carers and disabled
Labour are making more cuts that will hurt the most vulnerable in our communities. They cut the Winter Fuel Payments for pensioners. Now, they’ve said they’ll cut support for carers and people with disabilities; people who need it most.
Lib Dem campaigner James Hawketts said:

“Labour cut Winter Fuel Payments for elderly people. Now, they’re making life harder for those who are struggling. Labour have chosen to balance the books on the backs of the poor, but are content to maintain ultra-low taxes on big banks and multinational tech companies. Their priorities are totally wrong.”
